Symbiotics | A New Generation of Hydropower

Symbiotics LLC | A New Generation of Hydropower

Symbiotics was founded in 2001 as a joint venture between Ecosystems Research Institute and Northwest Power Services.  Understanding that low-impact hydroelectric power represented an untapped and promising source of growth in the renewable energy sector of North America, their intent was to develop new hydroelectric projects which made good business sense and which promoted sound environmental practices.

As the need for additional on peak energy became more apparent to us we have recently shifted some resources to seek and develop pumped storage opportunities using these same, sound environmental principles. We actively seek development partners for both our low-impact hydroelectric power and pumped storage opportunities.

Our principals have over 30 years of experience in the selection, permitting, construction, and operation of renewable and traditional energy projects.  We currently have 30 active projects in different regions of the United States and plan to add to that number as opportunities present themselves.

Our staff at Symbiotics has the requisite technical, regulatory, and financial expertise to manage all phases in the life of a successful project, from licensing to construction to long term operation.  Many of our projects are Symbiotics owned.  However, we also offer a wide range of environmental and engineering consulting services to third party developers of new and/or environmentally-sensitive energy facilities.  Our company headquarters is located in Logan, Utah with additional offices in Rigby, Idaho, Houston, Texas, Baker City, Oregon and Portland, Oregon.
