Judge Turns Down Coal Plant Permit
July 1, 2008

In the July, 1, 2008 issue of the Houston Chronicle, Bloomberg News Service reported that a permit for the 1,200 MW, $2 billion Longleaf coal-fired plant in Georgia was denied.

Longleaf was to be Georgia’s first new coal-fired electricity generation resource in over twenty years. Concerns were over air quality near the plant and in the Chattahoochee River basin, particularly carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
