Symbiotics | A New Generation of Hydropower

Symbiotics LLC | A New Generation of Hydropower

Clark Canyon Dam impounds the Beaverhead River about 20 miles southwest of Dillon, Montana, creating the Clark Canyon Reservoir. A zoned earthfill structure, the dam was completed in 1964 as part of the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation's Pick-Sloan Missouri Basin Program / East Bench Unit, which was authorized by the Flood Control Acts of 1944 and 1946.

In 2004, Symbiotics began federal licensing for a run-of-river hydroelectric project on Clark Canyon Dam.  The project is anticipated to have an installed capacity of 4.75 MW from two turbine/generator units, with average production of 16.5 GWh annually.  A license for the project was received in August 2009.
