Symbiotics | A New Generation of Hydropower

Newburgh Lock and Dam Project

The Newburgh Locks and Dam is located on the Ohio River 16 miles upstream from the city of Evansville, Indiana.  Construction began in 1966 and was completed in 1975 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Currently the facility provides improved in-stream navigation and recreation opportunities.

On behalf of Newburgh Hydro LLC, Symbiotics began state and federal licensing for a run-of-river hydroelectric project on Newburgh Lock and Dam in 2008.  Using five turbine/generator units, the proposed project will have installed capacity of 68 MW. Symbiotics is currently in the first study session for the Newburgh Lock and Dam Hydroelectric Project.
