Hydropower Projects Newburgh Lock and Dam Project Newburgh Lock and Dam is located on the Ohio River 16 miles upstream from the city of Evansville, Indiana. Construction began in 1970 and was completed in 1975 by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (ACOE). Currently the dam provides improved in-stream navigation and recreation opportunities. In 2008, on behalf of Newburgh Hydro, LLC, Symbiotics, LLC began State and Federal licensing for a run-of-river hydroelectric project on Newburgh Lock and Dam. Using two turbine/generator units, the proposed project would have installed capacity of 170 MW. (FERC #12962) |
