The Swift Creek Hydroelectric project is located on Swift Creek, near the town of Afton, in Lincoln County, Wyoming. The project was originally licensed on December 1, 1942 and operated until 1968 when an avalanche crushed its penstock. The upper and lower reservoirs still provide recreation opportunities to the citizens of Afton.
Once completed, this rehabilitated run-of-river hydroelectric project will have an installed capacity of 1.5MW and on average will produce 7.58 gWh annually. Construction began in the Spring of 2008 and the project is on schedule to be completed in 2009.
