Hydropower Projects

Wickiup Dam is located on the Deschutes River in Deschutes County just west of La Pine, Oregon.  The dam was completed by the Bureau of Reclamation in 1949 and is operated by the North Unit Irrigation District.  The dam and reservoir are managed for the purposes of irrigation, recreation, fish and wildlife, and scenic resources.

In January of 2008, Symbiotics LLC filed a Preliminary Application Document (PAD) for a run-of-river hydroelectric project on Wickiup Dam.  The hydropower project will have an installed capacity of 7.15 MW from one turbine/generator unit and on average will produce 21.15 GWh annually.
